Andrew Smith is a seasoned public affairs professional with over 15 years in federal and provincial politics, including almost 8 years of service as an MLA and Manitoba cabinet minister. He served as the minister for Sport, Culture and Heritage, Municipal Relations and the Minister Responsible for Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries. He combines legislative expertise with business development and international trade training to help clients navigate complex government processes, secure funding, reduce regulatory barriers, and expand into new markets efficiently and effectively.

Significant Contributions

  • International Partnerships: Through his years of connection with the Council of State Governments, Andrew continues to cultivate relationships with U.S. legislators in key Manitoba export states. He also served as a primary contact in Manitoba for international diplomats through oversight of the Protocol Office.

  • Trade and Market Development: Andrew spearheaded a provincial trade mission to promote Manitoba as a destination for business and investment. Additionally, he drove market development efforts in Canada and the U.S. for a small Canadian business, opening new opportunities to serve a larger and cross-border market. Currently he is pursuing the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation through the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) to further enhance his expertise in global trade

  • Reducing Barriers for Business: Andrew modernized Manitoba’s liquor regulations to lower barriers for small and medium sized producers, enabling growth and innovation. He also successfully advocated for other regulations to be reduced, helping more small and medium businesses expand across the province.

  • Community and Infrastructure Investment: Secured $50 million in infrastructure funding for his constituency and established a $100 million community infrastructure grant program as Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage. Additionally, oversaw and allocated millions of dollars in grants to municipal governments and community-led organizations for program and infrastructure funding.
